Poll: Vast majority of respondents in Armenia consider RF actions in  Ukraine unjustified and do not rule out nuclear war

Poll: Vast majority of respondents in Armenia consider RF actions in  Ukraine unjustified and do not rule out nuclear war

ArmInfo. The vast majority of respondents in Armenia are convinced that the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation is in fact a confrontation between Russia and the  United States. 66.6% of respondents think so. This is evidenced by  the results of the survey:"Ordinary war" conducted by the MPG  consulting company (Marketing Professional Group - the exclusive  representative of the International Association GALLUP in Armenia).

At the same time, 21.7% of respondents do not agree with such a  wording of the question, and 6.3% of respondents found it difficult  to answer. If we look at the dynamics of change in public opinion, we  can state that it is parabolic. In April last year, 68.4% of  respondents thought so, 16.6% did not share this position, another  15.3% found it difficult to answer, and already in December 2022,  this point of view was shared by only 63% of respondents, 24.6% - did  not share this point of view, and 12.4% found it difficult to answer.

At the same time, the respondents' assessment of the justification  for hostilities by the Russian Federation has changed. So, in the  course of the survey, 52.4% of respondents consider Russia's military  operations on the territory of Ukraine to be unjustified, 20.1% -  consider it rather unjustified, 11.5% - rather justified, 11% -  justified, 5% - found it difficult to answer. It is noteworthy that  in this issue during the year the dynamics of a smooth change in the  position of respondents from the justification of the actions of the  Russian Federation to the unjustified was recorded. So, in April last  year, only 24.7% considered the actions of the Russian Federation  unjustified, 14.9% - rather unjustified, 18.8% - rather justified,  27% - rather justified, another 14.7% - found it difficult to answer.

At the same time, 39.7% of respondents agree that the processes  around Ukraine will change the global world order, 34.5% of  respondents consider  that they  rather will change it (in  toal-74.2%), 10.6% of respondents consider that they would rather not  change it, 10.9% - would not change it, 4.9% - found it difficult to  answer. At the same time, during the year, the opinion of respondents  in Armenia on this issue did not undergo major changes. So, in April  2022, 76.3% of respondents believed that the processes would affect  the global world order, 15% - that they would not affect, 8.7% -  found it difficult to answer.

When asked to assess the possibility of starting a nuclear war, 58.3%  of respondents believe that the risk of starting such a war is high  (25.6% - there is definitely such a risk, 24.5% - rather there is  such a risk), rather there is no such risk - 22.5%, definitely not -  19.5% , another 3.9% - found it difficult to answer. At the same  time, in April 2022, 41.6% of respondents spoke about the likelihood  of a nuclear war, 50.7% - rather not, another 7.8%- found it  difficult to answer.

It should be noted that the survey was conducted through telephone  calls to residents of Armenia from March 23 to March 27, 2023. The  sample size was 1100, the sampling error was +/- 3%.  In 2011, MPG  became the official representative in Armenia of the Gallup  International Association, one of the most prestigious and  independent public opinion research organizations in the world. Since  2003, MPG, working in the sociological and marketing research market,  has implemented more than 800 projects of various sizes.
