ArmInfo. The EU stirs up contradictions between Yerevan and Baku. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova expressed this opinion on March 30 at a briefing commenting on the statements of head of the EU mission in Armenia Markus Ritter.
Earlier, Ritter, in an interview with Deutsche Welle, speaking about the activities of the mission, noted that "many Armenians believe that Azerbaijan will launch an offensive in the spring. If this does not happen, our mission has already succeeded>.
"It is very important to hear not from those who have never been a mediator in a settlement, who have never brought added value, and who have not achieved practical results. And it is important that Yerevan and Baku hear this, this is the key part of this whole problem, we need to hear, listen and act in the interests of the two countries>, Zakharova said.
According to her, Moscow is well aware that there are different points of view in the two countries, sometimes diametrically opposed, that there are periods of extreme complications, exacerbation. At the same time, as Zakharova noted, Moscow fixes that the conflicting parties can come to an agreement, "the main thing is to create an appropriate environment for them, a foundation, basis for such agreements and mutual understanding and promote this understanding, and not vice versa."
According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the EU's statements "only confirm the validity of earlier conclusions regarding the destructive intentions and actions of the EU in the region."
, the diplomat said, adding that the West, in particular the EU, has no examples of successful mediation in complex conflicts.
According to her, the EU does not think about what unpredictable consequences an irresponsible policy can lead to. "We call for abandoning such confrontational scenarios," said Maria Zakharova.
