ArmInfo. Parents of 15 servicemen killed in the fire in the village of  Azat of Gegharkunik region will meet with the military prosecutor on March 30. Lawyer Norayr Norikyan, who represents the interests of the families of the dead soldiers, announced this during a press conference at the Noyan Tapan press center on March 29 .  In this regard, he said that on February 28, a letter was personally sent to Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan demanding a meeting, but to this day no one has rushed to organize this meeting.

The lawyer also said that the results of a forensic medical examination of 10 bodies of servicemen out of 15 were received. In this regard, he stressed that it is puzzling why the conclusions of the forensic medical examination of the bodies of another 5 servicemen are not ready. According to Norikyan, the forensic examination indicated heat shock and carbon monoxide as the circumstances of death. In addition, the conclusion states that no narcotic substances were found in the bodies of the dead soldiers. He noted that after receiving the results of the fire-technical, construction-technical and explosion-technical comprehensive examination, it is possible that the injured party will request a secondary forensic medical examination.

On the night of January 19, 15 servicemen died as a result of a fire in the building of an engineering and sapper company in a military unit located in the village of Azat, Gegharkunik region, an officer and four more conscripts were injured. According to the authorities, the fire was caused by a violation of fire safety rules. Allegedly, the officer lit the potbelly stove with gasoline In connection with the incident, the entire command staff of the second army corps was dismissed. On January 27, the deputy of the commander of the military unit in charge of logistics and utility services was arrested, who is suspected in the criminal case of carelessly causing the death of people. As part of the criminal investigation under investigation, an officer of the engineering service of the same military unit was also arrested.
