ArmInfo. According to Americanist Suren Sargsyan, rather interesting processes are developing round Iran.
A broad anti-Iranian coalition is being formed and hostilities could break out, he believes.
"Azerbaijan has remained a lure in the hands of Turkey, Israel and the United States, with overt statements to this effect being made.
"However, by some interesting coincidence, the ring tightening round Iran has split up, resulting in a number of realities, and such 'a joint operation' is less probable, but remains possible," he said.
The devastating earthquake in Turkey and the scheduled elections forced the Turkish authorities to reorder their priorities.
Secondly, the normalization of the Iran-Saudi Arabia relations through China's mediation and with its guarantees has enabled Iran to remobilize its resources in other fields. Of course, the rapprochement is not in the interest of Israel, Turkey and the U.S.
"Thirdly, a serious domestic political crisis in Israel, which has made the authorities to revise its short-term priorities, including the announced actions against Iran, especially since [Benjamin] Netanyahu is under U.S. pressure," Mr Sargsyan said.
The fourth argument is that the U.S. is facing pre-election shocks, and the Democrats must not take risky foreign policy steps because they had serious failures, and any shocks - to say nothing of failures - will be to the Republican candidate's benefit.
"I do not rule out that the latest Iranian-Azerbaijani 'online war' proved a straightjacket, whereafter Iran, most likely through Russia, signaled its serious intentions to Azerbaijan.
"Of course, some states could resort to 'foreign adventures' to hush up domestic political problems - but not all of them at once. It means that during a short period all of them will be dealing with other problems, which opens a 'time window' for us to ensure Syunik's security. But who am I saying it to?"
