ArmInfo. Armenia's FM Ararat Mirzoyan has addressed a message on the commencement of Fracophonie Days in Armenia.
Armenia is once against hosting Francophonie Days, with numerous educational and cultural events. About 700 events dedicated to the French language and literature will take place in Yerevan and in Armenia's regions.
"This is one more opportunity for Armenia to reiterate its commitment to the values of principles of Francophonie. A small part of the large Francophone community, Armenia, during the previous decades, reaffirmed its indissoluble linguo-cultural ties and common values with Francophonie. Evidence thereof is the significant achievements of previous years - from Armenia's accession to the International Organization of La Francophonie to the Summit in Yerevan in 2018," the message reads.
At the 18th Summit at Djerba, Tunisia, last November, Armenian successfully completed its 4-year OIF chairmanship to Tunisia.
"The Djerba Declaration approved at the Summit reflected a number of positions, including ones on our region, and highlighted the solidarity of the OIF member-states and governments with Armenia in the context of challenges facing the country," the Armenian FM's message reads.
"The success of the Francophonie Days depends on an important role and active participation of our partners, including the embassies of OIF member-states in Armenia. A special mention should made of the French-language educational institutions and NGOs, which are among the driving forces of Francophonie.
"Considering the above, I would like to welcome a new major French-language actor to Armenia - the French Institute - and its active involvement in the 2-month events. I hope new French-language actors will continue coming to Armenia, which will stimulate the interest in the French language and culture," Mr Mirzoyan's message reads.
