ArmInfo.Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Arsen Ayvazyan today received a delegation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the US Department of Justice, headed by Legal Attache in Armenia and Georgia Heather Bergey.
According to the press service of the RA Investigative Committee, the delegation also included Administrative Assistant of the US FBI Office in Georgia Rachel McDermott and investigator of the Regional Security Service of the US Embassy in Armenia Tigran Petrosyan.
First of all, the Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee thanked the US Department of Justice and the FBI for close cooperation in the fight against transnational crime.
Bergey expressed satisfaction with the high level of mutual trust and cooperation established with the RA Investigative Committee, noting that they intend to continue the implementation of new projects aimed at developing the potential of the RA Investigative Committee within the priorities set by the Armenian side.
During the meeting, the most important needs for the RA Investigative Committee to improve the skills of investigators in the areas of drug trafficking, smuggling, cybercrime, money laundering and the opportunities for exchange of experience arising from them were considered, as well as issues of implementing training programs were discussed.
The parties also stressed the need to intensify joint efforts in the fight against illegal migration, improve the structures of information exchange in these areas.
In this regard, the effectiveness of the rapid response format formed with the RA Investigative Committee and the US Embassy in Armenia was noted with satisfaction. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
