ArmInfo. By the decision of the Interim Council of the "Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Sciences after V. Bryusov" Foundation, Ph.D David Gyurjinyan has been appointed Acting Rector of the University.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the Interim Council of the University was formed by the decree of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, which included Minister of Educational and Public Relations Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan and Deputy Head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Zaruhi Matevosyan.
The Interim Council will exercise all the powers conferred on the Board of Trustees in accordance with the law to ensure the smooth operation of the Foundation.
David Gyurjinyan will hold the position of Acting Rector until the election of the rector in accordance with the Charter of the Fund and approval of the voting results by the Foundation.r.
The Ministry explained that the appointment of Gyurjinyan had nothing to do with the process of consolidation of universities. At the moment, the issue of merging Bryusov University is not being discussed. The Ministry also refutes information about a danger of the liquidation of the university. <This jurisdiction is prohibited by law>, the message says.
It should be noted that after the adoption of such a decision, the students of the university went on strike. Representatives of the University reported that in response to a letter from the MESCS about holding a meeting of the Academic Council, at which a new rector will be introduced, the university sent a counter letter in which it invited members of the Provisional Council to visit the University and present, both to the staff and students, the legal basis for the decision.
