ArmInfo.This year, the annual Francophonie Days event in Armenia will be held under the slogan "Multiculturalism in the International Organization of La Francophonie," French Ambassador to Armenia Anne Louyot said at a press conference March 15.
In this context, she recalled the 17th Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie was held in Yerevan.
The organization is committed to democratic values, Ms Louyot said.
She hopes Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan will participate in the 19th OIF Summit in France.
Ambassador Anne Louyot highlighted the role of the French language in Armenia's education system. Many of the planned 528 Francophonie Days events will take place in Armenia, she added.
Armenia's Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan stressed Armenia is actively engaged in the events.
"I am happy that yesterday I had an opportunity to meet with [ Ms Zeina Mina], Director of the International Francophonie Games Committee. In 2027, Armenia is expected to host the Games. This the one more piece of evidence the Francophonie values are important for us," Ms Andreasyan said. She highlighted the importance of involving all Armenian regions in the Francophonie Days events.
The opening ceremony of the Francophonie Days in Armenia will feature a grand concert at the Aram Khachaturyan concert hall on March 20.
Ambassador of Switzerland to Armenia Lukas Rosenkranz said the International Organization of La Francophonie as a unique platform that develops cultural, educational and economic relations between member countries through common language. Its political component is peace, human rights protection and democratic development, as well as freedom of mass media and equal rights for men and women.
Over 20 events - films, music, theater, debate, contemporary art and a French language contest - will take place both in Yerevan and in Armenia's regions. Among the organizers are the Embassy of France in Armenia, French University of Armenia, other diplomatic missions and Armenia's cultural and educational institutions.
