ArmInfo. Tigran Abrahamyan, a MP from the "I have honor" opposition faction of the RA Parliament, commented on the decision of the Armenian authorities on relinquishing the CSTO quota of Deputy Secretary-General.
"According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Armenia has submitted a proposal to the CSTO on relinquishing its quota of Deputy Secretary-General. I note that the positions of 3 Secretary-Generals of the CSTO are rotational.
What is Armenia doing? Firstly, by this decision the RA expresses its attitude towards the political line of the CSTO. Secondly, it shows what reduces the political level of relations with the Organization. Thirdly, I get the impression that with this step, the RA is starting the process of withdrawing from the CSTO or giving a new impetus to the course started earlier," the MP noted. Touching upon the essence of all this, Abrahamyan wondered what problem Armenia is solving with this step - is it demonstrating its resentment, or showing its teeth? Or is there an alternative system? "Maybe it is accelerating the high probability of a new explosion in the region, and on what count?", the MP asked himself. Earlier, press secretary of the RA MFA Vahan Hunanyan said that Armenia has submitted a proposal to the CSTO on relinquishing its quota of Deputy Secretary-General.
