ArmInfo. The road where the act of sabotage was committed connects the Mets Shen, Hin Shen and Yekhtsaokh communities of the Shushi district, which were isolated from the rest of Artsakh after the Lachin corridor was blocked. The incident happened near the line of contact, 6-7km of Stepanakert, State Minister of Atrsakh Gurgen Nersisyan said in an interview with the Public TV of Armenia.
"Azerbaijanis thus tried to show the Artsakh Armenians cannot have any connection with the outside world," Mr Nersisyan said. Baku's claims about alleged arms supplies from Armenia are nothing but justifying its crimes.
That was a terrorist act, and experts found over 20 gunshot wounds on the body of one of the killed Armenian policemen. After suffering losses during the act of sabotage, the Azerbaijani side turned to the Russian peacekeepers for mediation to retrieve its killed and wounded servicemen. The Russian peacekeeper's prompt response saved the life of one of the Armenian policemen.
As regards the assessment of the incident by the Russian peacekeepers, they are not different from those by the Artsakh side. At present the situation on the contact line is calm, Mr Nersisyan said.
Artsakh authorities reported that three police officers were killed after Azerbaijani armed forces ambushed their vehicle near an area called Khaipalu at around 10 a.m. local time Sunday.
The Artsakh Information Center released footage of the incident showing how the Azerbaijani group approached that road and the police vehicles, which was en route to Stepanakert.
After killing the police officers, the Azerbaijani troops retreat to their positions, incurring losses.
The video then shows Russian peacekeepers arriving at the site of the incident. The Azerbaijani side then retrieves the bodies of its soldiers through the mediation of the Russian side.
The killed officers were identified as Lieutenant-Colonel Armen Babayan, Major David Danielyan and Lieutenant Ararat Gasparyan.
Another officer, Lieutenant David Hovsepyan, received a gunshot wound in the chest and was taken to the Republican Medical Center.
