ArmInfo.On March 6, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahe Gevorgyan received Brice Roquefeuil, the French Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, the press service of the RA MFA reports.
During the meeting, regional security and stability issues were discussed. The sides exchanged views on the recent developments in the normalization process of Armenia- Azerbaijan relations.
The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor was touched upon. In this context, the importance of implementing the decision of the International Court of Justice regarding the request for provisional measures against Azerbaijan was highlighted. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need to send an international fact-finding group to the Lachin corridor and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Vahe Gevorgyan also briefed his interlocutor on the details of the ambush carried out by Azerbaijan on March 5 in Nagorno-Karabakh.
It should be noted that on March 5, at around 10:00, a sabotage group of the armed forces of Azerbaijan opened fire on the duty car of the Passport and Visa Department of the Police in the area called Haipalu. As a result of the sabotage attack, three police officers of the NKR Ministry of Internal Affairs were killed. Another police officer is badly injured. After the attack, the Armed Forces of the Artsakh Defense Army opened fire on Azerbaijani saboteurs. According to the official version of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, two Azerbaijani soldiers were killed. Azerbaijani social networks report that the enemy side has up to 8 losses in manpower. We also add that this sabotage was preceded by attacks by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan on civilians doing agricultural work in the fields.
We also add that the incident took place not on the line of contact between the troops, but on the territory of Artsakh, on the road not far from Stepanakert.
