ArmInfo. A meeting of government representatives and members of the civil society platform of the EU-RA Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was held under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of forming a civil society platform and welcomed the establishment of cooperation in this format. Grigoryan noted that the full implementation of the agreement is possible only with the involvement and active participation of the general public, emphasizing the role and potential of civil society as an expert community specializing in various areas covered by the agreement with the EU.
Lousineh Hakobyan, President of the CEPA Civil Society Platform, told the government representatives about the work done by the Platform and the upcoming tasks.
The meeting participants discussed the format of further cooperation and exchanged views on areas of mutual interest.
The Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement was signed on November 24, 2017. The agreement entered into force on March 1, 2021. In order to effectively implement the agreement, at the initiative of the Interdepartmental Coordination Commission of the Republic of Armenia - the European Union, a roadmap was developed for the implementation of the provisions of the agreement. It consists of more than 300 measuresrelated to various fields, including education, science, health, social protection, infrastructure, economy, environment, etc.
The agreement created the institutional framework for the partnership. The highest political body of CEPA is the Partnership Council. The Council monitors and evaluates the implementation of the Agreement. Other statutory bodies of CEPA are the Partnership Committee, the Partnership Committee on Trade Affairs and the Partnership Subcommittees.
