This was stated by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan during a meeting with the delegation, which included the ambassadors of 7 member countries of French-speaking international organizations in the Republic of Armenia, international organizations of La Francophonie and observer states chaired by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland in Armenia Lukas Rosenkranz.
According to the press service of the MESCS, the participants discussed the activities and programs implemented within the framework of the International Francophonie Day.
Minister Andreasyan informed that a number of events in French are envisaged in all educational institutions of Armenia on the occasion of the French National Day and the International Francophonie Day, which, in her opinion, will contribute to the spread of French culture, values, as well as the development of language skills.
The head of the department highlighted 2 main events within the Francophonie. In particular, a special concert program, which will take place on March 20 in the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall on the opening day of the Francophonie, during which the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia will perform with an invited soloist.
The second special event is planned to be held in Gyumri on the initiative of the Gyumri School N1. She noted that in Gyumri, the performance of the students of the "Hayordats Tun" choir, accompanied by the Gyumri Symphony Orchestra, is expected.
For his part, the Ambassador of Switzerland noted that he highly appreciates the fact that Armenia took over the presidency of the Francophonie during a period full of challenges for it (from 2018 to 2022). According to the source, the ambassadors presented the events that are planned to be held in various formats and institutions within two months in Armenia. In particular, it was noted that the French University of Armenia will host a series of presentations on the topic "The role of women in diplomacy", with the participation of the heads of diplomatic missions of the Francophonie countries. In addition, a film festival will be held within the framework of the Francophonie, where French, Belgian, Canadian and Serbian films with subtitles will be screened, and a concert program with the participation of the State Chamber Orchestra of Armenia is also expected. Armenia became a full member of International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) in October 2012. The decision on this was made during the OIF summit on October 13-14 in Kinshasa.
