ArmInfo. The authorities of Artsakh agree to the establishment of technical means for control in the Berdzor (Lachin) corridor. Foreign Minister of Artsakh Sergey Ghazaryan stated.
He recalled that the only document that controls the issue of the Lachin corridor is the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020. In this vein, he emphasized that all issues should be resolved in accordance with the requirements of the 6th paragraph of this statement.
<Control has been transferred to the Russian peacekeeping contingent, and the Azerbaijani side does not have any authority to establish such control. Russian peacekeepers in the Lachin corridor, before its closure, checked the documents of arriving or departing citizens, visually inspected cars for prohibited items.
If such technical means facilitate the work of Russian peacekeepers, then we can discuss this in a bilateral format, that is, the Artsakh side with Russian peacekeepers. But the Azerbaijani side, even indirectly, should not have access to this control procedure or receive information from the means of technical control.>, the Artsakh Foreign Minister said in an interview with the PTA.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh also refuted reports from Azerbaijani media that meetings between representatives of Artsakh and Azerbaijan would continue in Akna (Agdam), Gandzak (Ganja) and Baku. He stated that the corresponding agreement has nothing to do with reality, the Azerbaijani side makes many such proposals, but they are rejected. "The meetings of the representatives of Artsakh and Azerbaijan on February 24 and March 1 of this year, like previous similar meetings, have always been mediated by Russian peacekeepers," he added.
He also mentioned that the assurances of the Azerbaijani side that the meeting was held for the purpose of reintegration issues are also misinformation. <Reintegration is out of the question. At the meeting, the issues of de-blockade of Artsakh, repair of the only power transmission line that provides our republic with electricity were discussed. Also on the agenda were issues of monitoring at the Kashen and Drnbo mines by Azerbaijan>, he said, adding that the Artsakh side was quite constructive in the negotiations.
At the same time, the minister stressed that Artsakh has a clear position on the negotiation process.
<The process corresponding to the international format should be restored, where Artsakh will be presented as a full-fledged party. Political issues can be discussed only in this format. And, most importantly! In such a negotiation process, the international recognition of Artsakh's right to self-determination in a legal way will be noted by us >, Ghazaryan said.
In this vein, he noted the importance of resuming the negotiation process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship and official Baku's refusal from a destructive position.
