ArmInfo. It is not the international community that has lowered the bar for Artsakh, but Armenia's government led by Nikol Pashinyan, Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the With Honor bloc, wrote in a Facebook post, as he commented on the Armenian premier's visit to Germany.
During his meeting with Armenia's premier, Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz spoke of the exercise of the Artsakh people's right to self-determination and reiterated it in answering one of the questions. Speaking at the same meeting, Armenia's premier "lowered the bar" by only indicating the Artsakh people's rights and freedom, Mr Abrahanyan writes.
According to Mr Pashinyan, "after signing the Statement of November 9, 2020, Armenia has spared no effort to normalize relations with Azerbaijan and ensure the rights and security of the Artsakh people."
"Russia is stating that the issue of Artsakh's status should be left for further generations. That is, Russia does not consider the issue settled. Germany, which is one of the key EU members, through its chancellor, points up the importance of Artsakh's right to self-determination. However, Armenia's authorities continue insisting on ensuring the Artsakh people's rights and freedoms, which fits Azerbaijan's arguments about Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
"It is obvious that it is not the international community that has lowered the bar in the Artsakh issue, but Armenia's government headed by Nikol Pashinyan, who is pushing ahead with the idea of Artsakh's capitulation instead of defending its independence," Mr Abrahamyan writes.
