ArmInfo.Iran welcomes the development of relations with the countries of the Caucasus, but the principal policy of the Islamic Republic is the absence of any change in the geopolitical status of the region. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian stated on Monday.
According to IRNA, the Iranian Foreign Minister pointed out the historical relations with Armenia during the meeting with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Geneva."Good relations between Tehran and Yerevan are in the interests of the entire region and do not harm any country," he added.
Amirabdollahian stated about the huge economic opportunities between Iran and Armenia.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia also expressed satisfaction with Iran's policy of respecting the sovereignty of the states of the region and opposing changes in the geopolitical status of the region.
Amirabdollahian arrived in Geneva on a working visit on Monday to take part in the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council and the annual session of the Conference on Disarmament. The Iranian minister will also deliver a speech at the meeting of the Human Rights Council.
