ArmInfo. Like 35 years ago, the present situation in Artsakh requires mobilization of the people's strength and spirit, Artsakh former state minister Ruben Vardanyan stated at the conference "Imperative of international recognition of Artsakh" on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Nagorno-Karabakh movement.
"I am sure Artsakh's independence means not only international recognition, but also our wish to continue our struggle, and we are ready to do our best for that," Mr Vardanyan said. during his 6- month stay in Artsakh he has been convinced of the Artsakh people's determination to move on in this direction, with no alternative to independence," Mr Vardanyan said.
Artsakh is facing grave problems now.
"Thirty-five years ago we discussed not only our independence, but also our values and principles, which we were ready and unready for. Those were most serious questions, and we cannot decide on our way toward the future without answering them," Mr Vardanyan said. This way can be covered only when the issue of international recognition of Artsakh and exercise of its right to self- determination becomes the most important and daily work for Armenia, Artsakh and the Armenian Diaspora. The country has grave problems, and the gravest one in security, with economic and social problems to be taken into account.
"Each person can have his or her opinion, but we must be unanimous about Artsakh. We have no right to lose Artsakh. We will have to face serious troubles, but I am sure that we will succeed due to combined efforts," Mr Vardanyan said.
