ArmInfo. The World Bank delegation intends to visit the Gegharkunik region in the near future in order to get acquainted with the consequences of Azerbaijan's military aggression on the spot. WB Senior Economist Nadia Fernanda Piffaretti said during a meeting with Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia Vache Terteryan.
In this context, she informed that the delegation had already visited the Syunik region. In turn, the Deputy Minister attached importance to such visits, presenting in detail to the guests the difficulties in terms of the commensurate development of communities in Syunik, Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor, which arose after the military attack from the Azerbaijani side. In this regard, he spoke about the government's priorities in the context of solving the problems that have arisen.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, the deputy minister was also interested in the international experience of the World Bank in different regions in such situations and emphasized that it can be helpful in the implementation of new ideas and new development programs in Armenia. The parties came to an agreement to organize another meeting-discussion after the visit of the WB representatives to the communities affected by the Azerbaijani aggression.
We remind you that on the night of September 13, 2022, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched a large- scale aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia using large-caliber weapons, artillery, missile systems and unmanned aerial vehicles. 36 settlements of Armenia were shelled, as a result of which more than 190 residential buildings were completely or partially burned down, energy infrastructures, water supply facilities, gas pipelines, a bridge and roads were damaged.
