ArmInfo. MEP Francois-Xavier Bellamy visited the Syunik province of Armenia and met with the residents of Artsakh that cannot return home because of the Azerbaijan-imposed blockade of the Lachin corridor.
Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasyan hosted Mr Bellamy and accompanied him to the border checkpoint on the road connecting Armenia with Artsakh, as well as at the meeting with the Artsakh residents staying in Goris now.
Mr Bellamy is to deliver a speech at the European Parliament on the consequences of the blockade of the Lachin corridor. He inquired about the situation in Syunik and on the Armenia-Artsakh road. He visited the frontier post and made sure that the road was blocked. The Artsakh residents staying in Goris told the MEP about their desire to return to their homeland despite the present socio-economic and humanitarian crisis.
According to Mr Ghukasyan, MEP Francois-Xavier Bellamy's visit clearly shows France's support for Armenia at all levels.
