ArmInfo. From a military point of view, Iran is closely monitoring the situation on the borders. Ambassador of Iran to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri stated this on February 9 during the conference on the topic " Armenian-Iranian Relations in the Context of Common Interests".
At the same time, the ambassador urged media representatives not to go into details about what specific possible military response might follow.
At the same time, the Ambassador recalled the close cooperation between Armenia and Iran in almost all sectors. "I can say one thing, if there are areas of close cooperation between Armenia and Iran, which are not publicly discussed, then it should be so," he said, expressing understanding of the media's interest in the issue of possible cooperation between the two countries in the defense sphere.
He urged the media representatives not to provoke tensions and not to damage the policy pursued by Iran on regional issues. " I am optimistic about the path that we are going through together. Let's not let others to set up a playing field for us," he said.
Zohouri noted that, of course, the enemies are trying to create problems and divert the attention of the leaders of the two countries from real issues. "However, Armenia and Iran should go side by side, assisting each other," he noted.
At the same time, he stressed that he respects all decisions related to military cooperation between Armenia and Iran. "If Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan considered it appropriate to say something about this sector, he would say. The same applies to Iran," the ambassador added that he did not consider it appropriate to say more than the heads of the defense departments of the two countries said, for not to give rise to speculation.
"I think that talking about Armenian-Iranian defense cooperation in the mass media is not in the interests of both countries. Do not rush, history will put everything in its place," the diplomat concluded.
