ArmInfo.Armenia has not yet received a response from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to a request about the zone of responsibility of the organization in Armenia. Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated on February 8 during the government hour in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
According to him, Armenia expresses gratitude to the CSTO for its commitment to send an observer mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, but the existing problem, which is clearly formulated by Yerevan, has not yet been resolved. , Pashinyan noted.
He pointed to the fact that the CSTO did not send its observers to the region, while the European Union sent a civilian mission to monitor the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. < The reason is that at the quadripartite meeting in Prague, the EU clearly fixed the map of Armenia, and its representatives arrived to monitor this territory>, the Prime Minister said. He added that without CSTO fully fixing the map of Armenia, it would be illogical to send their observation missions. The head of government stressed that the issue became more than obvious after Azerbaijan occupied part of the territory of Armenia. Pashinyan raises questions.
He noted that on many Western international platforms Baku trying to justify its aggression against Armenia, states that the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, increasing the grouping of Russian troops near the borders of Azerbaijan, in tandem with the Armenian Armed Forces is preparing "to implement aggression" against Azerbaijan, and for this reason, Baku "is forced" to seize the heights in order to balance the situation. "Our Western partners tell us how it is possible, you want to seize the lands of Azerbaijan, to which we have taken the initiative to send observers," the prime minister said.
He added that there is no geopolitical subtext in relations with the CSTO and the EU, there is a political agenda, and a specific issue that official Yerevan is trying to resolve.
