ArmInfo.On January 25, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is on a working visit to Brussels, met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell .
According to the press service of the RA MFA, during the meeting the parties exchanged views on issues of regional security and stability.
Ararat Mirzoyan highly appreciated the decision to deploy the mission of EU civilian observers in Armenia.
The minister drew Borrell's attention to the humanitarian crisis that arose in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the illegal blocking of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan. He stressed that Azerbaijan, in accordance with the provisions of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, must immediately stop blocking the Lachin corridor.
The Armenian side pointed to the importance of the international community taking effective steps to prevent Azerbaijan's policy of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the High Representative of the EU discussed the development of the process of settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. The process of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations was also mentioned. The agenda of the meeting also included issues related to the further development of the Armenia-EU partnership.
