ArmInfo. The factions of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh issued a statement regarding the blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan and the deepening of the humanitarian catastrophe.
The statement circulated by the press service of the Artsakh Parliament, in particular, says: "The military- political leadership of Azerbaijan, grossly violating the norms of international law and its obligations within the framework of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, since December 12, further deepens the policy of blockade of Artsakh under the far-reaching environmental pretext. In the conditions of the ongoing complete blockade and shutdown of electricity, the Internet, and since January 17, 2023, also gas supply interruptions in winter conditions have put the population of the Republic of Artsakh on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe. Along with this, the terrorist actions of "eco-activists" against 19 children who were returning from Goris to Stepanakert, accompanied by peacekeepers on the night of January 17-18, and the dissemination of all this in the Azerbaijani press and social networks, were added to this. The ongoing creeping war of the Azerbaijani authorities against the population of the Republic of Artsakh is taking place with the almost tacit consent of the whole world. Their goal is to break the will of Artsakh Armenians and deport tens of thousands of people from their historical homeland through ethnic cleansing. With such steps, Azerbaijan is also trying to frustrate the efforts of international bodies and various countries aimed at extinguishing the hotbeds of war and resolving conflicts in the region. We call on the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, which are parties to the statement of November 9, 2020, to take urgent measures to de-blockade Artsakh and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe. We call on international bodies and UN member states to prevent the genocidal actions of Azerbaijan by practical steps, in addition to statements and appeals. In order to adequately overcome the challenges facing the Republic of Artsakh, we appeal to all Armenians to take appropriate steps to stop the aggressive actions of Azerbaijan and protect the legitimate right of Artsakh Armenians to live on their land>.
