ArmInfo. It has been more than a month that Armenia has not received any response from Azerbaijan to its proposals regarding the peace treaty. RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan stated this on January 18 during the government hour in the RA National Assembly.
According to him, Yerevan is waiting for Baku's reaction to the proposals of the Armenian side on the draft peace treaty, which were sent more than a month ago. The minister noted that for well-known reasons, after the closure of the Lachin Corridor, the Armenian side did not take part in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan planned in Moscow, during which it was planned to discuss proposals for a peace treaty. "However, Yerevan sent its proposals to Baku, we are waiting for the reaction of the Azerbaijani side. There is a working process during which the parties present their proposals to each other. The Armenian side presented regular proposals and justifications. It is clear that this process will continue until there is a final agreed upon text of the peace treaty," the Armenian Foreign Minister said. He expressed categorical disagreement with statements of the Azerbaijani side that Armenia is not constructive. <We sent our proposals and still there is no answer. Thus, Azerbaijan itself suspended discussions on the text of the peace treaty, while simultaneously taking provocative actions, including in the Lachin Corridor zone, which is a violation of the provisions of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020>, said Ararat Mirzoyan.
The Minister expressed his gratitude to the previous monitoring mission of the European Union, which monitored the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. <The delegation has accomplished an important mission in preventing tensions on the border from rising or further escalation of violence. When sending a new mission, the Armenian side will provide it with the necessary assistance. Of course, we have a positive attitude towards the negotiations on the new mission, if the EU decides accordingly. Speaking about the meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on the Situation in the Lachin Corridor Zone, which was held yesterday with the participation of the RA Foreign Minister, Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the discussions were held behind closed doors. <According to my observations, formed on the basis of the statements of representatives of various states, the international community has clear understanding of the processes in the Lachin corridor, including on the issue of which side actually did all this, what are the obligations of the parties, that should have been implemented, but were not fulfilled>, the RA Foreign Minister noted.
He added that there is a clear understanding of the situation, and not only by the OSCE. This is evidenced by the statements of the Foreign Ministers of individual states, the public positions of the parliaments of a number of states and international organizations. "I am sure that sooner or later this position will lead to positive results," the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said. Mirzoyan also said that a document was put into circulation at the UN, the adoption of which was not completed due to objections from a number of countries, including friendly ones. <The UN Security Council is the most important platform, and work on it will continue,> the Armenian Foreign Minister assured.
