ArmInfo. Interstate relations between Armenia and Georgia have reached an impressive level, especially in terms of trade and economic ties. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in the parliament, speaking about the results of the recent regular meeting of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission.
According to Pashinyan, the fact that the prime ministers of both countries act as co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission speaks of the high level of ties between the states. According to Pashinyan, the trade turnover between Armenia and Georgia is approaching $1 billion, a goal set by the leaders of the two countries back in 2019. For the first time last year, Georgia imported large amounts of electricity from Armenia, more than in the previous few years.
Pashinyan stressed the importance of further consistent steps to strengthen trade, economic, humanitarian and cultural ties. Pashinyan considered the improvement of the situation related to the teaching of Georgian in Armenia and Armenian in Georgia to be an important element of the agreements. As another important step in strengthening the entire complex of relations, Pashinyan mentioned the agreement on facilitation of the visa regime, as a result of which the citizens of the two countries will be able to make mutual visits with internal passports.
