ArmInfo. It is the Islamic Republic of Iran and India that prevent the opening of a second front against Russia in the South Caucasus. This opinion was expressed in an interview with the BelTA agency by a well-known Moscow orientalist, political scientist Karine Gevorgyan.
She recalled that the leaders of Iran and India had unequivocally stated that they would not allow borders to be redrawn, that any redrawing of borders in the South Caucasus is a war against them. The political scientist explained this position by the fact that, regardless of who leads Armenia, these countries will help him, preventing attempts to change the geopolitical alignment, behind which, according to the political scientist, stands not only Turkey, but, first of all, Great Britain, the author of the pan-Turkist project.
Speaking about the real assistance, the political scientist recalled India's arms supplies to Armenia. , the political scientist believes.
According to the political scientist, Iran, India and the Arabian monarchies consider the "Turkish project" as a real threat to their interests. Therefore, it is these countries that are inciting Russia to form its own monetary and economic zone, not in opposition to the Chinese one, but covering a slightly different contour. Thus, Russia can be a kind of balancer between the Chinese-Far Eastern and Iranian-Indian contours.
From this point of view, speaking about the geopolitical priorities of Armenia in the person of Nikol Pashinyan, Gevorgyan noted the wrong opinion that the Prime Minister of Armenia "wants to please the West" and this, allegedly, is indicated by his refusal to conduct CSTO exercises in the country. "This thesis seemed ridiculous to me, because, by and large, I am well aware of what is happening in the region. Therefore, when Pashinyan announced the rejection of the CSTO exercises, he meant something completely different. The CSTO exercises are scheduled for years to hold. These exercises were planned and they had to take place. And then Pashinyan speaks and says: "under the current conditions, this is impossible." But that's not all, here he notices that he does not want to endanger Moscow. For some reason no one paid attention at this point. And the logic is clear - and why does Moscow need these exercises now in the Transcaucasus. . Why bring here the soldiers of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan who graduated from Turkish academies, who see themselves in the future "Army of Turan"?
And there are serious military facilities in Armenia, and Russia has strengthened its technical presence there. Why bring them there? I can't assume that Pashinyan made this statement without informing the Russian side at all, which kept silent at the highest level? This is an obvious agreement and definitely not for the benefit of the West>, the political scientist noted.
According to her, let the West think that "Pashinyan plays for the West, but I'm sure that in fact he plays for Moscow." The political scientist believes that the Armenians of the whole world understand that the guarantor of the existence of Armenia as a state and the preservation of the Armenian people in this territory is only Russia and partly Iran. , Gevorgyan emphasized. Therefore, it is not by chance that the activists of the radical Sasna Tsrer party who came to the US to agitate against Russia, against its military presence in Armenia and for the withdrawal of 102 Russian bases, who arrived in the United States, were pelted with "rotten tomatoes". And that means a lot.
