ArmInfo. The blockade of the Lachin corridor is Baku's provocation, with an ultimate goal of military escalation, Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan stated at a Cabinet meeting on Thursday.
The 32nd day of the illegal blocking of the Lachin corridor is underway, and since Monday, the supply of electricity to Nagro-Karabakh has been cut off (on the 33rd km of the only high-voltage line 110 kV Goris-Stepanakert supplying Artsakh from Armenia, an accident occurred on January 9 at 14:35 -ed.), he noted. The accident, as the Prime Minister emphasized, occurred in the area controlled by Azerbaijan, but Baku still does not provide an opportunity to organize emergency recovery work for both peacekeepers and the relevant services of Artsakh.
And, since local capacities are not enough to supply the entire republic with energy, Artsakh switched to rolling blackouts. Kindergartens are not functioning properly, including due to lack of food, jobs are being cut, further aggravating the social situation in Artsakh.
Nikol Pashinyan confirms his assessment - Azerbaijan's actions are aimed at breaking the will of the Artsakh people to live in their homeland. "I believe that this will cannot be broken," he said.
On the other hand, as the prime minister noted, one must have a certain idea of the resolution of the situation. "The reaction of the people and authorities of Artsakh to this should be asymmetrical," Pashinyan said. This, as the head of the Cabinet explained, means basing your policy on clear arguments and facts. At the same time, avoid political statements that are not useful, but can lead the situation into a greater impasse.
"A political dialogue should begin between Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh, and our colleagues in Artsakh should not give rise to being accused of disrupting a constructive dialogue or of making this dialogue impossible," Pashinyan explained.
The Prime Minister urged to refrain from steps that "will be in the hands of the developers of the scenario of a new military escalation."
He once again called on the diplomatic corps to redouble its efforts for international publicity of the situation in the Lachna corridor.
