ArmInfo. While Armenia's premier continues his campaign aimed at humiliating and destroying the Armenian army, laying the blame for territorial losses and concessions by Armenia and Artsakh on the Armenian servicemen, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is stating he has doubled the Special Task Force of the Azerbaijani army over the last two years, Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the opposition parliamentary faction With Honor, has stated.
At the same time, he stated that the increase in the number of special forces in the Azerbaijani army was mainly recorded due to the newly formed military units "commandos", although according to information, the number of army corps, special forces of the army, navy, national security, border troops also increased, and the number of special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Abrahamyan drew attention to the fact that the Azerbaijani president does not hide the real goal of increasing the number of offensive forces, stating that the Armenian government has a year to reach an agreement through negotiations, otherwise Azerbaijan will solve its territorial ambitions militarily.
In this vein, the deputy recalled that the Azerbaijani special forces, consisting of strike units of different power systems, played a primary role in sabotage battles on the border lines of Artsakh and Armenia in 2014-2016, as well as during the days of hostilities in 2016 and 2020.
"Before the April 2016 war, the main assault brigade of Azerbaijan was Yashma, a special-purpose brigade 052, disabled as a result of heavy losses in battles with the Armenian armed forces in 2014-16, and reorganized immediately after the hostilities of 2016, but before still not recovered," the politician stated.
At the same time, he wondered if there was a chance to bring the Armenian army to its senses and set combat missions for it, after numerous moral and physical campaigns by the Armenian government.
"This is the main question that is asked most often. My answer is: yes, there is. The main obstacle on this path is undoubtedly the Nikolov government, under which the army and its foundations suffered enormous damage. And although time is very short, we have the opportunity to recover and get back on your feet in the conditions of the elimination of this government," Abrahamyan said.
