ArmInfo.Armenian ForeignMinister Ararat Mirzoyan had a telephone conversation with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, during the telephone conversation the parties discussed a number of issues related to regional security. Mirzoyan, in particular, brought to the attention of his interlocutor the humanitarian crisis, resulted from the blocking of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan. (the Goris-Stepanakert road connecting Armenia with Artsakh). According to the source, it was emphasized that Azerbaijan's actions are a flagrant violation of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, as well as international humanitarian law. "Azerbaijan's steps are aimed at subjecting 120,000 Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to ethnic cleansing," he stressed.
In the context of preventing a humanitarian catastrophe in Nagorno-Karabakh, the head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized the need for clear steps to be taken by the relevant regional and international organizations, including the OSCE. It is also reported that during a telephone conversation, Ararat Mirzoyan congratulated his counterpart on assuming the post of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, expressing his readiness to actively cooperate in protecting and promoting the fundamental principles of the organization.
