ArmInfo. There was a scenario for the construction of an alternative road linking Artsakh, but "the reality on the ground " is not so simple. This was stated on January 10 at a press conference by head of the Armenian Cabinet Nikol Pashinyan, answering the question of whether the Armenian government did everything in its power so that Artsakh had an alternative road connecting with Armenia.
<There was such a scenario. We have worked in this direction, but the "reality on the ground" is not so simple. That is, who said that the same alternative road is guaranteed, who could say with certainty that the road could be closed only there and could not be closed a kilometer away? Armenia has provided direct financing to Nagorno-Karabakh for 170 billion drams>, Nikol Pashinyan said.
According to him, in order to have a second road, the RA authorities could provide resources and do nothing to interfere with the construction of this road. <I think we have provided enough funding. Let me remind you that decisions around the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh should be made by the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh, and we should assist them>, he said.
When asked if there are any disagreements between the authorities of Armenia and Artsakh on the issues put on the negotiating table, Pashinyan said that, in his opinion, there are no such disagreements. "We are in constant communication," he stressed.
