ArmInfo. In order to conduct CSTO exercises in Armenia, it is necessary to assess the area of responsibility of the Organization. This was stated on January 10 at a press conference by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, answering a question about the reasons for Yerevan's refusal to hold CSTO exercises in the country against the backdrop of Turkish-Azerbaijani exercises, which pose a danger to Armenia.
According to the Prime Minister, the Collective Security Treaty Organization can hold exercises in Armenia and then leave the country. But before conducting exercises, it is necessary to determine the area of responsibility of the Organization so that it is possible to build deep institutional relationships with this Organization. <When the CSTO does not indicate its area of responsibility, this becomes a fundamental problem for Yerevan. Moreover, the Organization does not fix its "red line", which cannot be crossed. It, for example, does not pass in the area of Sotk-Khoznavar, Jermuk. Where does it pass? And when we find out it, then we will invite the CSTO to conduct exercises. I hope for the CSTO, but another thing is that the Organization itself may be disappointed in Armenia. I also believe in the possibility of establishing relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan. If there is no faith in this, then there should not be appropriate actions, but I believe>, said the head of government.
He pointed out the importance of acting as responsibly as possible so that security risks can be managed. <The peace agenda must be earned. Our experience shows that attempts to impose this agenda do not work, and the peace agenda really needs to be earned. Peace can be achieved by changing the angles, a correct assessment of the ongoing processes, the most measured steps, increasing the share and role of Armenia on international platforms, and changing relations in the region. We will be able to achieve peace if we can improve relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan, as well as by forming a certain field of agreement. No less important is the issue of developing relations with Iran and Georgia>, Pashinyan said, noting the need to use the resources of the world community to implement this formula.
