ArmInfo. Only 52% of respondents in Armenia have a positive attitude towards Russia. This is evidenced by a survey conducted by VCIOM (Russian Public Opinion Research Center) on the topic: " The public opinion of the population of the CIS countries regarding Russia's humanitarian aid and contribution to the promotion of international development."
In neighboring Azerbaijan, 38% of respondents have a positive attitude towards Russia, in Kazakhstan and Belarus -62% each, in Moldova - 40%, in Uzbekistan 74%, in Kyrgyzstan - 79%. The best attitude towards Russia is in Abkhazia - 92%, Tajikistan - 95% and in South Ossetia - 97%.
At the same time, only 54% of respondents in Armenia consider Russia a friendly country, in Azerbaijan - 36%, in Moldova - 50%, in Kazakhstan - 58%, in Uzbekistan 67%, in Belarus - 74%, Kyrgyzstan - 80%, in Abkhazia - 97%, Tajikistan - 96% and South Ossetia - 99%.
It is noteworthy that in the top 5 friendly countries in Azerbaijan, Turkey was mentioned by 99% of respondents, Ukraine - 78%, Kazakhstan - 73%, Uzbekistan - 71% and Turkmenistan - 69%. At the same time, they unanimously called Armenia unfriendly. 98% of Azerbaijani respondents think so.
Armenia entered the top 5 friendly countries for Belarusians. 41% of Belarusian respondents consider Armenia friendly. The top five also includes Russia (74%), China (54%), Kazakhstan (48%) and Uzbekistan (41%).
36% of respondents of Moldova consider Armenia friendly, while 7% of respondents consider it unfriendly.
The most friendly country of Armenia itself is France. 69% of respondents think so, another 12% considered it unfriendly. The top 5 friendly countries also included Russia 54% (26% considered - unfriendly), India - 47% (17% - considered unfriendly), China 42% (18% considered unfriendly), and the United States 42% (21% - considered unfriendly).
The unfriendliest countries for Armenians are: Turkey 92% (2% called friendly) and Azerbaijan 98%. 46% of respondents in Kazakhstan consider Armenia friendly, another 45% - neutral, and only 6% consider it unfriendly. Only 2% of respondents in Tajikistan consider Armenia unfriendly, 33% consider it friendly, and 50% - neutral. Only 12% of respondents in Kyrgyzstan, consider Armenia friendly, 58%- neutral, and 28% - unfriendly.
Armenia ranks third among the friendly countries of the Abkhazians. 53% of respondents in Abkhazia consider it friendly, 3% - unfriendly, another 41%-neutral. In this list, Armenia ranks second in Abkhazia, after Russia and Belarus. A similar attitude towards Armenians is also in South Ossetia - 49% consider it friendly, 2% -unfriendly, 47%- neutral. In this list, it also ranks third after Russia and Belarus.
A very interesting snapshot has been developed in Uzbekistan, where 96% of respondents found it difficult to say what kind of country Armenia is for them, and only 2% consider it friendly.
The survey was prepared based on the results of a study on the topic: " The public opinion of the population of the CIS countries regarding Russia's humanitarian aid and contribution to the promotion of international development."
The purpose of the Study is to study (identify) public opinion of 10 countries of the CIS region on the contribution of the Russian Federation to international development assistance (humanitarian cooperation) and the provision of humanitarian assistance to recipient countries of the CIS region, incl. determination of the level of awareness (knowledge) of the population of these countries about Russian projects and programs in the field of international development assistance and humanitarian assistance provided by Russia to these states, as well as the perception (approval / disapproval) of Russia's actions to provide various kinds of humanitarian assistance in the countries under study (including in comparison with similar assistance received from other countries).
The task of the study is to study the level of knowledge about the humanitarian assistance provided by Russia in the country and the perception of Russia's actions to provide various kinds of humanitarian assistance in the country.
The study involved adult (18 years and older) citizens of the CIS member states.(as well as Abkhazia and South Ossetia) permanently residing in the territory of the state of which they are citizens. The object of study includes the following ten countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia.
The subject of the study is the public opinion of adults (aged 18 and over) citizens of the CIS member states about Russian projects and programs in the field of international development assistance. The subject must include the indicators specified in the Methodology for calculating the indicators of the Comprehensive State Program of the Russian Federation "Assistance to International Development".
Surveys on a given questionnaire were conducted in the countries under study during the periods - from August 23 to September 14, 2022 (wave 1) and from October 20 to November 14, 2022 (wave 2).
To ensure the representativeness of the survey of the adult population (aged 18 years and older), in each country a sample of respondents was formed, corresponding to the structure of the country's population according to the results of the last population census. Surveys in different countries were carried out in the format of a formalized interview (questionnaire) in two versions: in the method of a formalized face-to-face interview at the place of residence, and in the method of telephone interview (CATI).
