ArmInfo. Since December 12 of this year, a group of Azerbaijani citizens, posing as environmentalists, illegally occupied the road connecting Artsakh with Armenia under false pretenses, thereby stopping traffic and cutting off the only connection between the citizens of Artsakh and the outside world. This is stated in the statement of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Artsakh.
The statement notes that Azerbaijan deliberately stopped the supply of gas from Armenia to Artsakh for two days. In connection with these acts, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Artsakh initiated criminal proceedings, the investigators carried out investigative actions, the National Security Service of the Republic of Artsakh organized operational-search activities, as a result of which the data obtained proved that:
-The vast majority of Azerbaijani citizens who organized the seizure of the Stepanakert-Goris highway are former or current employees of the special services;
-The raised environmental problem is used only as a way to justify their own actions and make them look reasonable;
-Azerbaijan pursues the goal of undermining the foundations of the Artsakh Republic's economy, depriving the population of a source of income and jobs;
-The actions carried out by the citizens of Azerbaijan contradict the the provisions of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, to the status quo recorded by it;
-Citizens of the Republic of Artsakh, as indigenous and right holders of that territory, have the right to manage, possess and use the land, surrounding natural environment, nature and subsoil of that territory by force of international law, which Azerbaijan is trying to ignore and neutralize.
