
ArmInfo.International agencies and a number of states have responded to Azerbaijani blockade of the Lachin corridor.
Stephane Dujarric, Spokesman for the U.N. Secretary-General, stated:
"The Secretary-General is following with concern the ongoing developments around the Lachin corridor. The Secretary-General urges the sides to de-escalate tensions and to ensure freedom and security of movement along the corridor, in line with the previously reached agreements. The Secretary-General reiterates his support to the ongoing mediation efforts in the region."
Giuseppe Zaffuto, Spokesperson for the Council of Europe Secretary General, tweeted: "SG Marija P Buric expresses concern for humanitarian situation around Lachin Corridor. Dialogue is key to avoid escalating tensions. CoE ready to assist reconciliation efforts between Armenia & Azerbaijan through confidence- building measures."
The Foreign Ministry of Canada tweeted: "Canada is closely following the closure of the Lachin corridor. We call on Azerbaijan authorities to reopen the corridor and ensure freedom of movement to avoid any potential humanitarian impact."
Rep. Abigail Spanberger tweeted: "Azerbaijan has blocked access to Artsakh and cut off the gas supply - removing the primary source of food, heat, hot water, and electricity for the Armenians who live there. We must halt security assistance to Azerbaijan in the face of this aggression against civilians."
UK Minister for Europe Leo Docherty tweeted: "Blocking the Lachin Corridor and disrupting gas supplies in winter risks severe humanitarian consequences. The UK counts on both Azerbaijan and Armenia to abide by all ceasefire commitments. A lasting settlement can only be reached through peaceful, diplomatic means."
