ArmInfo.Iran considers any geopolitical change in the South Caucasus dangerous, and we oppose it. Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali stated this on December 14.
Recalling that Tehran fully supports the territorial integrity of the countries of the South Caucasus, he noted that the issue of security and stability in the South Caucasus is very important for the Iranian side.
At the same time, referring to the 3+3 regional platform, Jalali noted that Iran considers this format very successful for the South Caucasus and actively participated in the first meeting of this format in Moscow.
"As for the 3 + 3 platform, you know that Iran is one of the participants in this format. We took an active part in its first meeting. We believe that this is a good and favorable platform. We consider the path taken by the six participants of this format to be the most optimal, I mean dialogue, cooperation, as well as negotiations," the Iranian ambassador said.
In December 2021, the first meeting of the 3+3 consultative regional platform was held in Moscow, co- chaired by the Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey and the Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. Georgia refused to participate in the initiative.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that preparations were underway for a new meeting of the 3 + 3 platform; the date and the agenda of the meeting are being agreed upon.
