ArmInfo. The neighboring countries have not yet understood that the Armenian people have "red lines". Speaker of the Parliament stated this on December 14 from the rostrum of the National Assembly.
Alen Simonyan, commenting on the situation in the Lachin corridor zone. According to the speaker, attempts to put pressure on Armenia and Artsakh will no longer work.
At the same time Simonyan urged to pay attention to a number of factors. In particular, the speaker does not understand the assurances of official Baku on granting the residents of Artsakh the same status as the citizens of Azerbaijan. <What kind of status is this? Hostages? Shutting off gas in the winter?>, Simonyan asked, pointing out the need to negotiate with partners on an international mandate for observation missions in Artsakh, including within the framework of 12 member states of the OSCE Minsk Group. The speaker also pointed to the mandate of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Artsakh. He stressed that regardless of whether the Armenian side is satisfied with their activities or not, the situation once again proved the need for the presence of peacekeepers in the region, whose mandate should be extended. Simonyan also noted that there is a need to discuss formats for the presence of peacekeeping forces of other organizations and countries in the region as well.
<As of the current situation, the US, the EU and France have already made relevant targeted statements. According to our information, the Russian Federation is also preparing a similar statement, which the Armenian people have long been waiting for from their ally. We hope that this time we will not be disappointed >, the speaker stressed.
