ArmInfo. The 4th Global Forum "Against the Crime of Genocide" has opened in Yerevan's Matenadaran today.
Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan, speaking at forum entitled "Prevention of Genocide in the Era of New Technologies", stated that Azerbaijan's latest actions in Lachin are a provocation.
He spoke of attempts to draw parallels between the Lachin corridor and other corridors. According to Armenia's premier's the Lachin corridor is a corridor preventing a genocide. "Closing this corridor is tantamount to dooming the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians to a genocide, under three scenarios," he said.
The first scenario is expatriation of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians. "Such a model we can see in Hadrut, where no Armenians have lived since the 44-day war," the premier said, reminding the attendees that the trilateral agreement of November 9, 2020, provides for the return of refugees with the assistance of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. However, no progress has since been seen.
The second scenario is loss of identity. "Azerbaijan's fight against Armenian place names and cultural heritage is a glaring example. When security is mentioned physical safety is often implied. But security of identity is an integral part of human rights," Mr Pashinyan said.
The third scenario is physical annihilation. "We have seen the reality and prerequisites - snipers aiming at farmers and shelling of civilians in towns during the 44-day war," Armenia's premier said.
