ArmInfo. The Lachin corridor is controlled by Russian peacekeepers and is in their zone of responsibility. Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, stated on December 7 during a briefing in the Parliament at the request of journalists to comment on the situation with the closure of the Stepanakert-Goris road from the Azerbaijani side.
Noting that Armenia has a negative attitude to what happened, the Speaker of the Parliament stressed that work in this direction is being carried out by peacekeepers.
To the remark of media representatives that does not this mean that "Armenia should not do anything in this matter?", Simonyan noted: "The statement of November 9 contains answers to all your questions. Regarding the fact that Armenia is dissociating itself from Artsakh, I believe that all the steps that we have taken so far should not be repeated in order to once again show that Armenia has not left Artsakh and will not leave in any case>.
At the same time, he did not agree with the statement of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that "in Prague, Armenia considered Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan." In this regard, the speaker of the Parliament emphasized: "In the same statement, he (Lavrov) spoke about such a plan, which I presented earlier as the "Russian plan", or, as they say, "Lavrov's plan". He once again confirmed that there was such a "Russian version". And contrary to his statement, after my well-known video recording with Russian journalists, he stated that Alen Simonyan was right, but Lavrov was not>.
Touching upon the Prague statement, the head of the Parliament stressed that Artsakh does not remain outside the processes. He explained that the statement adopted in Prague provides for the format of the dialogue between Artsakh and Azerbaijan. <I will say more that there really were such conversations, options where your concern would be appropriate, since Artsakh was supposed to withdraw from the processes. However, Armenia rejected these conversations>, Simonyan assured.
It should be reminded that on December 3, the Azerbaijanis closed the Stepanakert-Goris road connecting Artsakh with Armenia under a fictitious pretext related to the exploitation of the mineral resources of the NKR. These actions of enemy forces run counter to the trilateral commitments made by Azerbaijan in the framework of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020.
