ArmInfo. The key priorities of Artsakh, which are on the agenda in the first place, are the status, security and socio-economic and cultural development. State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan announced this during an interview with RTVI.
In this regard, he noted that Artsakh faces several serious challenges as of today. First of all, Vardanyan pointed to the issue of the status of Artsakh, its positioning in the international space. He stressed that Artsakh should participate in making decisions about its future. " There is a lot of work to be done in this matter," the state minister noted.
As the second, no less important issue, he mentioned security, which should be ensured both for the activities of people living in the republic, as well as for international partners and mediators. In this context, he pointed not only to the peacekeepers, but also to the international community, whose participation is necessary, including because of the humanitarian catastrophe. As a priority, Vardanyan also identified the tasks of the socio-economic and cultural development of Artsakh, where about 120 thousand people live, of which about 30 thousand are children who need to be given a normal education, provided with medicine, given the opportunity for a normal cultural life, for technological communication with the world. "We have three big cluster of issues: these are the key priorities that are on the agenda in the first place. Below them are another 6 ones, which we arrange based on this understanding: These are all issues related to financial, economic, social, cultural and educational development, international positioning, security, public administration activities," he said, noting also the importance of ideology, values, mentality, which are no less important than the material component.
According to the Minister of State, there are about 15 reforms under the abovementioned 6 sets of issues in various areas, ranging from social, economic and ending with the military ones. He stressed that serious changes are required. "There is a center of reforms that will coordinate, the government will have to ensure prompt action, and society should also get involved, become part of these changes," Vardanyan noted.
