ArmInfo.Compared to 2017, today the financing of the military-industrial complex of Armenia has increased by more than 4 times. In 2023, the volume of financing for the sector will exceed 6.8 billion drams. Vice-Speaker of the RA National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan announced this on November 16.
He noted that the high-tech industry is the fastest growing sector of Armenia's economy, the development of which is combined with the development of the military-industrial complex and other sectors of the economy, increasing their efficiency and productivity. The vice speaker recalled that, in accordance with the decision of the government adopted in 2019, military-industrial and research activities were separated from the functions of the Ministry of Defense and assigned to the Ministry of High-Tech Industry. "Thus, we can state that the decisions we made to separate the functions of producer and consumer have yielded tangible results. We can state that today Armenia already has serial production of a number of products and a number of other weapons that have passed state and military tests and are already being supplied to the army," the vice speaker said. Hakob Arshakyan also stressed that in 2023 it is planned to increase funding for the Ministry of Defense by more than 120 billion drams. He noted that the state is making efforts to strengthen public confidence in serving in the Armed Forces, attract officers, develop military training mechanisms, acquire modern weapons, military equipment and other areas that will gradually lead to the creation of a professional army. According to him, the acquisition of new models of weapons and military equipment should be accompanied by the training and involvement of relevant personnel. <The armed forces need more and more personnel with high-tech knowledge in the field of automatic control systems, drones, cyber warfare. It is necessary to take into account all these circumstances during the period of conscription for military service and involve conscripts with appropriate skills in educational programs," the vice speaker noted.
