ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a positive impression of the meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which took place in October in Prague. He stated this in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia.
According to Pashinyan, the conversation showed that his and Erdogan's views are not incompatible, as it sometimes seems. This does not mean that Armenia or Turkey have abandoned their previous approaches at the negotiating table. The point is that with consistent work and the presence of political will, the desires of the parties can be combined, which will mean the normalization of relations. "It is clear that the Azerbaijani factor is somehow present in the conversation between Armenia and Turkey. But what the parties say at the official level about the need for normalization without preconditions is already not bad. And who said that we do not want a settlement of relations with Azerbaijan? We also want it, and at a meeting with the President of Turkey I tried to present a number of nuances about how Armenia perceives Turkey's position on a number of issues," he said. Pashinyan drew attention to the fact that recently Turkish officials have made statements that are a new phenomenon. In particular, Erdogan's adviser recently noted in an interview the importance of the issue of the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. The Prime Minister considers this an important element. Of course, relations between Turkey and reaction in the event that Baku hinders the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Ankara. He expressed hope that his meeting with Erdogan and the meetings of the special representatives on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations would eventually bring results.
