ArmInfo. In the context of unblocking transport communications in the region, the Azerbaijani side constantly raises the issue of opening, as they say, a "transport corridor" through the territory of Armenia.
The position of the Republic of Armenia on this issue has not changed. There can be no road or transport route on the territory of Armenia according to the logic of the corridor. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan in his speech at the 10th meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the CIS member states.
Grigoryan once again recalled that there is no mention of such corridors in the tripartite statements of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan dated November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, as well as in the in Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 695 of November 10, 2020 "On measures to maintain peace in Nagorno-Karabakh". "Therefore, we consider unacceptable an arbitrary and unrealistic interpretation of the agreements reached. At the same time, we are interested in a real solution to the issue of unblocking communication channels in the region and support the activities of the tripartite Working Group, established under the joint chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation," he said. The activity of this working group, as noted by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia, proceeds from the fact that the transport infrastructures being restored and under construction must function within the framework of national legislation and under the full sovereignty of the states through which they pass. Based on this, the Republic of Armenia is ready to open roads as soon as possible. Moreover, the draft decision of the Armenian government on the opening of three checkpoints to ensure transport links between the western regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic has long been in official circulation. "However, as we see, the Azerbaijani side is not interested in a real solution of the issue in such a constructive manner and continues to put forward a "corridor" solution that is unacceptable for Armenia. In a word, it is very difficult to conduct a dialogue and negotiate with those who have no desire to conduct a dialogue and pursue completely different goals.
In the context of the abovementioned, Armen Grigoryan drew the attention of those present to the fact that it is about opening all communications in the region, and sometimes the fact is ignored or not mentioned that, according to the 9th paragraph of the statement of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan dated November 9, 2020: " All economic and transport links in the region should be released". In other words, communications should be open not only for Azerbaijan, but also for Armenia. "That is, this is not a one-way street, but an inclusive process from which all parties should benefit. In particular, Armenia is interested in using the communication routes passing through the territory of Azerbaijan in order to carry out cargo transportation in both directions," Grigoryan concluded.
