ArmInfo. There are two kinds of news in the negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, one is bad and the other is good. On November 3, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this in the parliamentary commissions of the RA National Assembly, answering the questions of the deputies.
According to him, the bad news is that on almost all issues on which negotiations are underway, the Armenian side is faced with the maximalist position of Baku. . "In my impression, Azerbaijan, believing that it has achieved military successes, thinks that now it can dictate conditions. This, of course, cannot be a reality. I hope that Azerbaijan will understand this over time, and if they are really interested in building a sustainable peace , they must also understand that there can be no unilaterally beneficial solutions, and such an approach will not be long-term," the minister said.
He referred to the good news that there is interest from the international community in the package of negotiations, which is growing more and more, especially after the Azerbaijani aggression on September 13-14. As the minister stressed, Azerbaijan received a clear signal from the world community, that force or the threat of force cannot be a way to resolve issues, and there are lines that cannot be crossed.
Mirzoyan confirmed that Armenia is ready for negotiations on various platforms. Recently, a meeting was held at the level of leaders of countries in Sochi, where the parties were received by Russian President Vladimir Putin. A few days later, Washington will host a meeting at the level of foreign ministers, with the participation of Ararat Mirzoyan, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. This, according to the RA Foreign Minister, is a constant intensive process, which testifies to the growing interest of the international community in the region.
As for the unblocking of roads, as Mirzoyan noted, they will be under the sovereignty of the countries through which they pass. He noted that no one questions his thesis at the talks. Recent meetings, as well as statements made abroad, confirm it. <Other details are still being discussed. At the same time, one can note the constructive approach of the Armenian side, and one has to point out the non-constructive approach of Azerbaijan and possible other interested parties. At least, now the situation is exactly like this>, Mirzoyan said.
Regarding the Armenian-Turkish relations, the RA Foreign Minister did not rule out that negotiations with Turkey in the near future would lead to positive results on a number of technical issues. Answering the question about the progress in the talks between the special representatives of Armenia and Turkey, Mirzoyan noted that he only had to repeat the general assessments. It would seem that it was stated that the negotiations would be conducted without preconditions, and at the same time, Turkey links them with the settlement of relations with Azerbaijan, which in itself resembles a precondition. At the same time, negotiations are underway on several fronts at the working level. The possibility of opening the border for holders of diplomatic passports, as well as citizens of third countries is being discussed.
