ArmInfo. Press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov commented on the statement of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan about his readiness to extend the mandate of Russian peacekeepers for 10-20 years at the meeting to be held in Sochi.
"We need to wait for the meeting itself," Russian leader's press secretary Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti.
Today, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that he is ready to sign a document in Sochi and agree to extend the mandate of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh for 10-20 years. "I am ready to sign this document. But I believe that the President of Russia should make such a proposal, and if necessary, I will do so, but the Russian Federation should support that proposal, because I am not the one who can decide that the Russian peacekeepers will stay there for a long time. This is a tripartite document, and if we and Russia agree, we will be in the majority," the prime minister explained.
The Russia-Armenia-Azerbaijan summit will be held in Sochi on 31 October. The previous meeting in this format took place in November 2021. Russian President Vladimir Putin is also scheduled to have personal bilateral meetings with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
