ArmInfo. Armenian Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan paid a working visit to Syunik region and held a meeting at the regional prosecutor's office. According to the press service of the department, Vardapetyan called it no coincidence that she held the first field meeting in Syunik.
"One of the important lines of defense of the country passes here. The front line of criminal policy also begins here," the prosecutor general said.
Vardapetyan pointed out the importance of building citizens' trust in the prosecutor's office and observing the deadlines for the consideration of criminal cases, since delays in criminal cases, according to her, have a detrimental effect on the economy of Armenia and the quality of life in the region. Anna Vardapetyan emphasized that her immediate attention will be focused on criminal cases that have been considered in pre-trial proceedings for more than eight months, and instructed to determine and submit to the Prosecutor General's Office a schedule for the consideration of these proceedings. "I'm not interested in the number of cases revealed, I'm interested in their quality," the prosecutor general said. In this context, she pointed to the importance of improving the effectiveness of military criminal proceedings, emphasizing that her immediate focus is on war crimes and non-combat death investigations.
