ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities declared Konstantin Zatulin, the most pro-Armenian MP of Russia, persona non grata.
As it became known today from a message on the website of the "Haykakan Zhamanak" newspaper, owned by the family of the current Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the chairman of the Committee of the Russian Federation for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin has been declared an "undesirable" person in Armenia. He is banned from entering the Republic of Armenia.
At the same time, on the newspaper's website, the ban is argued by the fact that Zatulin has repeatedly accused the Armenian authorities of losing during the 44-day war in 2020. Moreover, in the article, Zatulin was accused of interfering in the internal affairs of Armenia, as well as of voicing the thesis that the country's authorities are trying to drive a wedge into the Armenian-Russian allied relations.
"And in an interview given to Yerkir Media during his last visit to Armenia, Zatulin accused the Prime Minister of signing an agreement with Azerbaijan on a "corridor" through the sovereign territory of Armenia. "Questions about a possible corridor should be asked to the signatories, the "corridor" signed by Pashinyan," Zatulin said.
We note however, that in the tripartite statement of November 9 there is no mention of a corridor through the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. The statement only mentions the Lachin corridor," the article says. It is noteworthy that not only Zatulin spoke about the "corridor", but also the leadership of Azerbaijan and Turkey many times. ArmInfo tried to get a comment in this regard from Zatulin's office, However, the MP is still not in touch. Let us add that this message was published on the eve of the meeting of the Armenian-Russian "Lazarev Club" scheduled for October 27 in Yerevan. From this statement, one can assume that the meeting of the club, which is led by Zatulin from the Russian side, may be in question.
Let us also add that a few days earlier, Konstantin Zatulin, on the air of one of the Russian federal channels, again stood up for Armenia and the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, saying that if the Armenian authorities sign the "Western version" of the peace agreement with Azerbaijan, then the Armenians of Artsakh will face genocide. Later, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry sent a note of protest to Russia in connection with the pro-Armenian "hostile statements" allegedly heard on Russian federal channels against Azerbaijan.
