
ArmInfo. On October 19, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Vahram Dumanyan received Ambassador of France to Armenia Anne Louyot.
According to the press service of the ministry, during the meeting a number of issues related to further strengthening relations between the two countries in the field of education and culture, as well as expanding and enriching the agenda of multilateral cooperation were discussed. Vahram Dumanyan noted that the ministry is committed to the commitments undertaken within the framework of Francophonie and is ready to activate cooperation in this direction.
Anne Louyot, in turn, announced the readiness of the French side to support the in-depth teaching of the French language in the state educational institutions of Armenia, which will help increase the effectiveness of teaching French in schools. As a successful model, the Ambassador mentioned the example of Yerevan secondary school N119, emphasizing that she was able to freely communicate with the students of this school in French. The diplomat suggested implementing similar programs and raising the level of teaching French in the regions of Armenia, in particular in Gyumri. The Ambassador also pointed to the implementation of a similar project in the city of Kapan, emphasizing the possibility of cooperation between the Syunik region and French Lyon.
During the meeting, a number of other issues related to the expansion of cooperation in the field of education were also discussed, in particular, the creation of the most favorable conditions for the activities of the French University in Armenia. Vahram Dumanyan highly appreciated the activities of the University, saying that it contributes in the best way to the development of the Armenian-French friendship and the creation of new opportunities. Both sides stressed the importance of developing the activities of the University in Armenia.
The French side expressed its readiness to send young teachers to Armenia to support French language teachers. According to the Ambassador, the French University in Armenia will support this process. She also added that the University will implement the process of teaching French and testing the language in the format of non-formal education.
The meeting also discussed the issue of the program for the preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage, within the framework of which France supports the preservation, restoration and enhancement of the cultural heritage of Armenia. It was noted that the program includes three components: the first direction refers to education and training, the second direction-to the restoration of the Tatev monastery complex, and the third direction -to the new concept of the permanent exhibition of the Erebuni Museum. It was emphasized that this program could serve as a model for cooperation in other areas as well.
