ArmInfo.Levon Ter-Petrosyan's judgments regarding the Zurich protocols and the possible Armenian-Turkish reconciliation agreement, they are unacceptable, and the comparison of these processes is absolutely inappropriate, reads a statement issued by the office of Armenia's third president Serzh Sargsyan in response to Armenia's first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan's statement.
The third president's opinion of Levon Ter-Petrosyan's assessment of the initiative of the meeting of the former presidents of RA and NKR at the Holy Etchmiadzin, including the effectiveness of the meetings, will be published after discussions with the other interested parties.
"As for Levon Ter-Petrosyan's judgments regarding the Zurich protocols and the possible Armenian- Turkish reconciliation agreement, they are unacceptable, and the comparison of these processes is absolutely inappropriate, the statement reads. Everyone will be convinced of this when the document Armenia's incumbent authorities negotiated with the Turkish side is officially published."
Armenia's first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan made a statement in response to an article published by a media outlet owned by the Armenian premier's family. The article mentioned Azerbaijan's demands to Armenia in the context of normalization of relations. According to Mr Ter-Petrosyan, it was a "negative response to a proposal to start a dialogue between the opposition and authorities."
The president appreciates this publication for revealing Azerbaijan's demands regarding the expected settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. Such projects are also prepared on the platform of diplomatic contacts aimed at rapprochement between Armenia and Turkey. In this case, certainly, no big surprises are expected. The Armenian-Turkish reconciliation agreement, in fact, will not differ much from the Zurich Protocols signed by Ahmet Davutoglu and Eduard Nalbandian, on October 10, 2009, the statement reads.
The office adds that there is no more need for the platform initiated by Catholicos Garegin II between the authorities and the opposition, which, however, does not belittle his persistent efforts, which have already produced results, the statement reads.
