ArmInfo. Moscow considers Yerevan's decision not to send a military contingent to the CSTO exercises in Kazakhstan as its sovereign right. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, announced this on September 29 at a briefing.
According to her, the Armenian authorities act on the basis of their priority tasks.
"As for the decision taken by Yerevan not to send military contingents to participate in the joint CSTO exercises in Kazakhstan, I think that in this matter Armenia is acting on the basis of the priority tasks that face it and its armed forces, taking into account the current situation. This is its sovereign right " Zakharova said.
At the same time, she stressed that the unfounded criticism of the CSTO voiced in Armenia by certain political figures does not benefit the search for verified and mutually beneficial solutions. "There is little sense in such destructive statements," said a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Moscow is for close adherence to all the trilateral agreements (signed between Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan) to settle the long-standing conflict, Maria Zakharova, Spokesperson for Russia's foreign office stated on Thursday as she commented on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's proposal on the deployment of an international observer mission along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border after the latest escalation.
The documents were agreed on not only by the conflicting parties and the mediator, but also by the nations involved in the long-standing conflict in one way or another.
"And they are a real, not an imaginary, roadmap. Many politicians and public figures in different states, especially in Armenia and Azerbaijan, are seeking to replace the agreements with their own ideas. They are promising much. They are good at that. The truth is, however, that they have not done much over the years. No results. Our agreements have not remained on paper. They are being implemented step by step. Not always as we want them to, but they are working. Something imaginary must not be substituted for what is really working. This is a general rule," Zakharova said.
