ArmInfo. Judge Boris Bakhshiyan was acquitted. Lawyer Yerem Sargsyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"Judge Boris Bakhshiyan was acquitted by the judicial decision of Judge Lusine Stepanyan," the lawyer wrote.
On May 31, 2021, the Supreme Judicial Council agreed to the criminal prosecution and imprisonment of Boris Bakhshiyan, a judge of the primary instance court of Syunik region. The judge was taken into custody on February 7, 2022 for a period of two months, after which the arrest was extended for another month, until May 7, after which no request for an extension was received, and Bakhshiyan was released. Human rights activists called this detention politically motivated. The judge was arrested after he decided to release the legendary commander Ashot Minasyan (Ashot Yerkat - ed. note), who was accused of usurping power, preparing the assassination of a statesman, political or public figure, in particular the Prime Minister of Armenia, in order to stop his activities, as well as illegally acquiring and keeping weapons and ammunition for this purpose by a group of persons with prior consent.
